Hi Leo! Thanks for your comments. I would recommend an essential oil blend called "Aroma Siez" from Young Living Essential Oils. The blend consists of: Basil, Cypress, Marjoram, Lavender and Peppermint. This is a muscle-relaxing formula that helps muscles that are tight and spasmed and has an anti-inflammatory affect. I would recommend that a few drops of this oil mixed with their other product Massage V-6 Mixing Oil and rubbed on your legs before bed. You can learn more about the essential oils here:

Hope that helps!

Great article-I'm a big fan of Alternative Medicine and I'm always looking for news on this field of medicine-I would like to know if Dr.Wood can recommend any natural supplements that I can take to help me stretch a calf muscle-At night when I want to go to sleep,I get a pain on my right calf,it feels like It contracts in a cool room, and
the only way I can get rid of the pain is, with electric heat patches-
Please advice-
Best regards:

Excellent article Dr. Wood!

I'm a huge advocate of getting people to take more responsibility for their health. One thing I think would be a great addition to your list is education. From a $20 book, you can often learn things that most doctors don't know! I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and benefited much more from educating myself than from working with a number of "specialists." Granted, most people are not motivated enough to do the amount of reading and training I've done, but at least some knowledge is essential for being able to critically evaluate a doctor's suggestions.

I'm glad I found your blog and look forward to reading more of it!
